Life Curation

Every Life Leaves Layers

Walk into any home and you are walking into a geological record — the accumulated strata of a life lived. Learning to read it is the work.

The objects on the shelves, the things in the drawers, the boxes that haven't been opened in years — each one holds evidence. Of who you were. What you loved. Who loved you. What you hoped for. What you couldn't let go of.

Some of those objects are talismans — carrying real memory, real identity, real meaning. Some are treasures waiting to be rediscovered, buried under the sediment of busy years. And some are simply what accumulates when life moves fast and intention gets lost along the way. The work of Mercury & Soul is learning to tell the difference.

I am a Life Curator. I work hands-on, side by side with clients — moving through their spaces, their rooms, their things. In that process, something remarkable happens: people begin to hear themselves.

01
Excavate

We move through the layers together — room by room, object by object. Hands-on, present, unhurried. You lead. I witness and ask the questions that matter.

02
Reclaim

As we work, things surface. Talismans are recognized. Fossils are understood. The difference between genuine meaning and accumulated weight becomes clear.

03
Inhabit

What remains is a space — and a life — that truly reflects who you are right now. Not who you were. Not who others expected.

Every layer of your life holds something. Some things are alive with meaning. Some have simply settled. Learning to read the difference is everything — from what the world sees, down to what is unchangeably yours.

Surface
The visible life
What the world sees — the curated, the presented, the performed
Where we begin, but never where we stay
Sediment
Accumulated without intention
Things that settled around you rather than being chosen — obligations, others' expectations, inertia
Not yours to carry forward
Talisman
Alive with meaning
Objects that carry real memory, real identity, real love — these are yours to honor and keep close
The evidence of a life genuinely lived
Fossil
Preserved but no longer living
A former self, a former chapter — honored, understood, and gently released
Recognizing these is its own kind of freedom
Bedrock
Most essentially you
What is unchangeably, irreducibly yours — the self beneath all the layers
What we are excavating toward

If this is starting to sound like your own layers, the next step is simply a conversation — no obligation, just a first look at where the digging might begin.

A cozy attic room with sloped ceiling and wooden beams, featuring a window that lets in natural light. The room contains a vintage armchair with a knitted throw, a globe on a wooden trunk, organized bookshelves holding books, cameras, and decorative items, and plastic storage containers labeled with contents. There are also boxes, a clothing rack, and a small rustic table with a typewriter and mug.
